Liverpool handed Kylian Mbappe transfer boost with PSG 'facing £260m dilemma'

Liverpool's hopes of securing an audacious move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe could receive a welcome boost in the near future, with the French giants reportedly set to post significant losses when their financial accounts are published later this year.

Mbappe has been tentatively linked with Liverpool for a number of years and is known to be admired by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, although the German boss has never sanctioned an official approach for the player during his time in charge.

Mbappe recently signed a new long-term deal at PSG to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2025, although a new and important development at the Parc des Princes could be set to pave the way for a potential move at some point further down the line.

PSG are shortly expected to reveal losses of at least £260million as a result of their lucrative spending habits over the last 12 months, according to Le Parisien.

The club already find themselves on UEFA's watch list, which suggests that it would be in their best interests to quickly resolve the situation by taking action to cut costs if the report is accurate.

It remains to be seen whether Mbappe's future at PSG will come into the equation if things go particularly south, with the 23-year-old's new contract said to have given him an eye-watering salary of around £1m per week.

Liverpool may be inclined to pounce if an opening emerges for Mbappe, although the possibility of a future move to Anfield remains unlikely as things stand.

Such a deal would not be rooted in any kind of financial sense for the Reds, who tend to act diligently to improve their squad when new players are needed as opposed to splashing huge fees on big-name stars.
