'This is a statement': Tim Sherwood says 'world-class' Liverpool man will leave the Reds in 2023

Tim Sherwood has claimed on The Kelly and Wrighty Show that Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of this season.

The Reds have had a shocking start to the new Premier League campaign. They’ve won just four of their first 11 games so far and are almost certainly out of the title race – even though we’re only in October.

Klopp has been at Liverpool since 2015 and he has made them one of the best sides in Europe. Liverpool have won every trophy that has been up for grabs under the German, and he’s a real icon at Anfield.

There was always a feeling that Klopp would leave Liverpool in 2024, but he ended that speculation by signing a new contract back in April this year. Nobody knew then that Liverpool would struggle this badly.

Sherwood has some sympathy for Liverpool but he thinks Klopp and the board will have a conversation at the end of this season, and the German will walk away from the job.

He said: “I don’t think, this is a statement, Jurgen Klopp is there next season, I think there’s a conversation to be had. I’m not sure Jurgen picks them up from where they are now and makes them challengers again, I really don’t.

“History says he doesn’t do that. He’s very good and drives and takes the teams to where he thinks he can get the most out of them.

“I don’t think they’ll get rid of him, but there will be a conversation where both parties agree that Jurgen has taken them as far as he can and they go for a new challenge. That’s just my hunch when I look at him. I’m not suggesting they’ll sack him.”

That really is a statement, isn’t it?

Klopp, branded as a ‘world-class’ manager by Troy Deeney on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, is a legend at Liverpool, and even though things aren’t great at the moment, almost every Reds supporter is fully behind the German to turn things around soon.

Even though Liverpool have only won three times in the Premier League this season, they are just five points behind fourth-place Newcastle United, who have played a game more.

A top-four finish or higher is still definitely possible for Liverpool, and as long as they get that, there’s absolutely no reason for Klopp to walk away.
