'I'm being told': Journalist shares what he's just heard about Ibrahima Konate's injury yesterday
There was concern on Saturday afternoon as Konate was omitted from the Reds squad that beat Southampton 3-1. But according to journalist Julien Laurens, the 23-year-old’s absence was just precautionary.
“I’m being told that there is nothing to worry about for Ibrahima Konate. It’s a knock and no risks were taken. It [He] will be at Clairefontaine on Monday to meet up with his France teammates,” Laurens wrote on Twitter.
Good news for Ibou, and good news for Joe Gomez who stepped in to help Liverpool to the three points.

Konate looking to put early season issues behind him
Despite the good news here, it’s hard not to feel a little uneasy, regardless. Konate has played just four times for Liverpool this season, all of which have come since the start of October.
As a result, it wouldn’t seem like the wisest idea to take him to the World Cup. Of course, it’s amazing news for Ibou, and everyone at Liverpool will be delighted for him.
But from a fitness point of view, he could maybe do without the month-long festival of football.
Instead, plenty of Liverpool fans would prefer to see him recuperating back on Merseyside, especially given that he had another issue today.
Alas, that isn’t going to happen. And whatever becomes of France’s bid to retain their World Cup title, it’ll be a great experience for Konate.
Chances are that he isn’t going to see much game time, anyway. Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool staff will be keeping on top of his fitness, and they’re just around the corner in Dubai, too.
Hopefully Konate can put these early season problems to bed for when the Premier League resumes next month.
The Reds are better side when he plays. To miss the big Frenchman for yet more games will seriously hinder their chances of meeting their objectives this campaign.
Go well Ibou, and please stay healthy!
