Liverpool favourites to agree deal for 6 ft 3 Ajax centre-back

 

Liverpool are chasing Perr Schuurs as the German coach eyes defensive reinforcements. A move for the Netherlands international defender may not happen in winter, but the Merseyside giants could pursue the defender next summer. It has been a terrible start to the season for all Liverpool defenders, including Virgil van Dijk. The formidable Dutch centre-back is not performing at his best, which has cost Liverpool plenty of points. Additionally, the injuries to Matip and Konate have come at the wrong time.

The German coach has since relied upon the inconsistent Gomez. Back-to-back losses to clubs in the relegation zone have put Jurgen Klopp in a position to rethink. 

Schuurs’ name has emerged on the Reds’ defensive shortlist. Perr is enjoying a bright start to life in Serie A after arriving from Ajax in the summer.

The 22-year-old defender was the replacement for Gleison Bremer, who joined local rivals Juventus. Having featured regularly for Torino this term, the Dutch defender is already attracting the interest of several teams. 

Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on the Dutchman. But if the Reds come in with a bid, it will be difficult to turn down.
