Liverpool get dream Champions League draw scenario despite PSG beating Juventus
Liverpool now know the four teams they could face in the Champions League last-16 when the draw is made next week.
Liverpool may be counting their blessings following the final round of Champions League matches after a stunning turnaround in Group H involving Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain. With Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City topping their respective groups, Liverpool have a limited amount of teams they're able to face in the next round.
UEFA rules stipulate teams from the same domestic league can't face each other in the first knockout round in the Champions League. With Liverpool also unable to draw Napoli, it leaves just four possible opponents for Jurgen Klopp's side.
Tuesday night's results meant two of those slots were filled by Porto and Bayern Munich, but there was still more to be decided on Wednesday. Arguably the most eye-catching tie would be a rematch of last year's Champions League final with Real Madrid thrashing Celtic at home to top their group earlier in the day.
The only other group left to settle top spot was Group H with Benfica and PSG heading into their matches against Maccabi Haifa and Juventus respectively on level points. Benfica faced a tall order in making it happen if PSG managed to beat Juventus given the superior goal difference for the Ligue 1 outfit.
