Liverpool in the battle to sign€30m-rated Austrian midfielder
Liverpool have already been in contact with Konrad Laimer’s management. And it stays to be seen whether they can come forward with a concrete offer for Austria international ahead of the winter transfer window. The RB Leipzig midfielder is also a target for Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Konrad will be a free agent in the summer, and the Bundesliga club are likely to be tempted to sell him permanently during the winter transfer window. Laimer has been a crucial figure for the German giants over the last few years, and they will not want to lose a footballer of his calibre on a free transfer.
It makes sense for them to cash in on the Austrian midfielder for a nominal price in winter and invest the proceeds from the sale into their squad. It is no surprise that the Reds are keen on signing the 25-year-old midfielder in the coming months after chasing him in the summer.
The German manager desperately needs central midfield reinforcements, and the Austrian can operate in several roles. The former RB Salzburg player can play as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. And he would be an upgrade on the Reds captain Henderson, who has not been at his best for a while now.
Furthermore, Laimer can compete with Fabinho for the starting berth. The Brazilian midfielder has not been at his best this campaign, and he could do with some competition for places.
