‘Unbelievable this’: John Terry wowed by Liverpool player after win over Saints
John Terry has stated on Instagram that James Milner’s 600th Premier League appearance is ‘unbelievable’ after he reached that milestone during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
The 36-year-old, who played for Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester City during his career, came off the bench for the last 20 minutes to see Jurgen Klopp’s side through to a much-needed three points.
One of the ultimate pros, whilst some hang up their boots by now and remain satisfied with their three Premier League titles and Champions League medal, it’s still not enough for Milner.
A reliable figure and a leader off and on the pitch, his contract runs out in 2023 and it will be interesting to see if he stays on at Anfield.
Either way, when Milner posted on IG that it was ‘nice to sign off for the break with an important win and to make my 600th Premier League appearance’, he received a number of messages of congratulations in the comments section.
Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart posted ‘Huge numbers, Juan’, whilst John Terry added ‘Unbelievable this mate. Congratulations.’
AN UNDERRATED AND WELL-LIKED FIGURE
One of the most underrated players during the Premier League era and an absolute machine across the pitch.
If Milner were to walk off the pitch in the home stadium of the former clubs he played for – Leeds, Newcastle, Villa and Man City, then each one of them would give him a standing ovation.
He has left a positive footprint at those clubs, which says a lot about him as a player, character and person.
