Villarreal demanding£50m for Liverpool transfer target

Image
Arsenal have made a big-money offer to secure services one of La Liga’s most promising forward, however, face significant competition from fellow Premier League side Liverpool, according to reports. The Merseyside Reds are also reportedly looking at the young forward as a potential option, though, like the Gunners, are reluctant to go to Villarreal’s £50m valuation. The North Londo ngiants have already had a strong summer window, recruiting Man City pair Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko as well as Portuguese playmaker Fabio Vieira, while Liverpool have signed Fabio Carvalho from Fulham, Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen and Darwin Nunez from Benfica. Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta is also keen to secure the services of a new forward to provide cover and competition with Bukayo Saka on the right wing in particular and the team briefly pursued a deal for Brazilian forward, Raphinha – though he only wanted to join Barcelona. The Gunners have remained attentive to the possibility of bringi...

Report: Liverpool now in pole position to sign 'special' striker PL rival bid £43.8m for in the summer

Image
Liverpool are on pole position to sign Cody Gakpo, with Calciomercato reporting that the forward will leave PSV Eindhoven at the end of the season. Gakpo has made an absolutely unbelievable start to the campaign. Few forwards in Europe have been in better form so far this term. The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals and contributed 17 assists in 24 games in all competitions. In the Eredivisie, he has scored nine and provided 12 assists in just 14 games. Liverpool on pole position for Cody Gakpo Unsurprisingly, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Gakpo in recent months. He was heavily linked with a Premier League move in the summer. Gakpo told The Times that he held talks with Manchester United. Meanwhile, he had a chance to join either Leeds or Southampton on deadline day. Calciomercato reports that Leeds offered nearly £43.8 million (€50 million) for Gakpo. But supporters of those clubs will likely accept that their chance to sign the striker has now been and gone. A mo...

'I'm being told': Journalist shares what he's just heard about Ibrahima Konate's injury yesterday

Image
There was concern on Saturday afternoon as Konate was omitted from the Reds squad that beat Southampton 3-1. But according to journalist Julien Laurens, the 23-year-old’s absence was just precautionary. “I’m being told that there is nothing to worry about for Ibrahima Konate. It’s a knock and no risks were taken. It [He] will be at Clairefontaine on Monday to meet up with his France teammates,” Laurens wrote on Twitter. Good news for Ibou, and good news for Joe Gomez who stepped in to help Liverpool to the three points. I’m being told that there is nothing to worry about for Ibrahima Konaté. It’s a knock and no risks were taken. It will be at Clairefontaine on Monday to meet up with his France teammates. @ESPNFC Konate looking to put early season issues behind him Despite the good news here, it’s hard not to feel a little uneasy, regardless. Konate has played just four times for Liverpool this season, all of which have come since the start of October. As a result, ...

‘Unbelievable this’: John Terry wowed by Liverpool player after win over Saints

Image
John Terry has stated on Instagram that James Milner’s 600th Premier League appearance is ‘unbelievable’ after he reached that milestone during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. The 36-year-old, who played for Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester City during his career, came off the bench for the last 20 minutes to see Jurgen Klopp’s side through to a much-needed three points.  One of the ultimate pros, whilst some hang up their boots by now and remain satisfied with their three Premier League titles and Champions League medal, it’s still not enough for Milner. A reliable figure and a leader off and on the pitch, his contract runs out in 2023 and it will be interesting to see if he stays on at Anfield.  Either way, when Milner posted on IG that it was ‘nice to sign off for the break with an important win and to make my 600th Premier League appearance’, he received a number of messages of congratulations in the com...

‘I will be ready’: Arsenal and Liverpool target says he’ll be leaving next summer

Image
Speaking to NOS, Cody Gakpo has been discussing his future amid plenty of transfer speculation. The Dutch winger has been linked with almost every club in Europe at this point with Arsenal and Liverpool amongst the two Premier League clubs keen on his signature. The winger opted to stay at PSV in the summer, and while there is plenty of speculation about a January move at the moment, Gakpo says that he’ll be ready to take the next step in his career at the end of the season – all-but confirming that he’ll be on the move in the summer. “I think at the end of this season I will be ready to take that step. I feel like I was already that way at the beginning of this season, but after this season I’m even more ready to take the next one,” Gakpo said. Where will he go? Gakpo has outgrown the Eredivisie, there’s no doubt about that, but the question is, where will he go next? The winger is showing signs of being a truly elite level talent, and he’s bee...

‘He’s furious’ – BBC pundit spots moment that had Mo Salah raging around the hour mark

Image
Mo Salah could be forgiven for feeling more than a little frustrated at the lack of support and protection he receives from officials following the latest refusal to award him a penalty. The Egyptian was put through one on one, being eventually brought down as he was getting his shot off after being harried by his opponent, and the lack of a spot-kick award had him positively raging around the hour mark. “Salah doesn’t go down, he stays on his feet. Eventually he gets half a shot off and says well give me my penalty now. Because he hasn’t gone down, he doesn’t get it,” Pat Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport). “He’s furious and I kind of understand.” The Merseysiders currently find themselves 3-1 up against the visitors courtesy of goals from Bobby Firmino and Darwin Nunez. The approach to awarding fouls leaves our No.11, and others like him, in something of a tricky position. Ideally, we want to encourage attackers to stay on their feet but it seems there’s...
